Nu Eco-Nappies: 100% Sustainable, Biodegradable, and Compostable:

Author Harvey Samuel on 25.01.2021

Sustainability is defined as an avoidance of the depletion of natural resources in order to maintain an ecological balance. In 2021, it is said that 81% of consumers prefer to buy from sustainable sources. This could be for several reasons; to reduce one’s impact on the environment, to address social issues and to combat the universal call for a more ethical and conscious future.

A nappy could spend up to 450 years before breaking down at landfill, we aim to bring that down to a single figure. Nu eco nappies are made with 100% bamboo pulp, an extra-absorbent alternative to the conventional wood-based eco nappies on the market. The bamboo used in Nu eco nappies rapidly absorbs any moisture given off by your baby, leading to a decrease in the chances of nappy rashes and skin irritation. The anti-bacterial properties of bamboo fibres create a natural cooling effect on your baby’s skin and with a super-soft top sheet for added comfort, Nu eco nappies have been designed with your baby’s comfort in mind.

Nu eco nappies are 100% sustainable, made with 100% bamboo-pulp, replacing the wood-pulp used in other eco-friendly alternatives. It has often been said that the use of trees is unsustainable, with some scientists going as far as to claim that at our current rate of consumption, trees will be gone from the planet in just over 300 years. Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants in the world, growing at a rate of an inch an hour and producing 35% more oxygen than trees. This means bamboo grows far faster than trees and is harvested at a rate far slower than that at which it is grown. Bamboo is so fast-growing that it can yield 20 times more timber than trees in the same geographical area, making Nu eco nappies a sustainable and conscious choice over available competition.

Nu eco nappies are 100% plastic-free, starting at our product and finishing with our fully biodegradable outer-packaging. Plastic is cheap to produce but can take hundreds of years to decompose once sent to landfill and recycling plastics can be bad for the environment causing a serious risk of chemical pollution to our eco-system. Nu eco nappies contain no plastics at all, meaning our Nu eco nappies make as little impact possible on our environment, allowing you to cast a vote towards a greener future starting at your wallet.

Chlorine is known for its anti-bacterial properties however it can be known to cause irritation to sensitive skin and becomes carcinogenic when mixed with organic compounds found in water. Chlorine has also been known to remove natural oils from the skin, drying it out. Nu eco nappies are 100% chlorine-free, which is great news for our eco-system and our skin. Combining that with our fully biodegradable outer-packaging, we believe Nu eco nappies to be a true ‘end-of-life’ solution for those of us wishing to inspire a change in the world with our buying habits. So why not take part and do your bit for the environment, #BThechange and buy biodegradable at www.nu.today.
